Our cantina, I Magredi is situated in the DOC “Friuli Grave” region, by the Tagliamento river between the
provinces of Udine and Pordenone.
We, the Tombacco family, have passionately cultivated the land and the vine since 1968, when my father
Otello, an entrepreneur from Opitergino, bought the company.
Initially we cultivated apple trees, peach trees and vineyards. The harvested fruit was sold at the local kiosk
whilst the grapes were sent to Oderzo to go through the vinification process.
In 1985 after qualifying as an agricultural engineer, I, Michelangelo, started to work for the family business
and by the end of the 80s I had transformed I Magredi into a winery.
Our cantina is committed to respecting the environment and for this reason in 2009 we installed a
photovoltaic system that covers one third of the company's energy needs.
Constructed wetlands are also used to purify the cantina's wastewater and we use an atomizer for the
recovery and reuse of excess water in the production of our wines.
We are committed to environmental sustainability and will continue to take advantage of the technology
available to us to use clean energy.

In November 2013 more than 43,000 hectares of the winery were designated "Special Conservation Areas"
(ZSC) resulting in our being part of the “European Natura 2000 network for the protection of biodiversity”,
which aims to protect the species and habitats of community interest.
The alluvial nature of the soil, characteristic of this DOC region with its stony surface, enhances the
temperature range between day and night, thus favouring pronounced aromas in the grapes and so
producing more fragrant and elegant wines.
