They are a splendid seventeenth-century villa in the center of the small town of Tapogliano, a few kilometers from Palmanova and Aquileia, both UNESCO sites. My name is Villa Pace.

The works for my construction began in 1686, commissioned by Carlo Maria Pace v. Friedensberg; later another Carlo Maria Pace (famous agronomist, commander of the order of Saint Stephen and chamberlain of the Emperor) commissioned the second constructive intervention, in the mid-eighteenth century. The works ended in 1751.

To the construction phase of the 17th century, I owe my cubic shape closed by the 4 corner towers; access to the main floor was originally planned through an external staircase as seen in many seventeenth-century Friulian villas, but the two corner towers towards the garden, where the staircase was planned, were never completed and in the mid-eighteenth century the project original underwent a profound modification. So my beautiful ellipsoidal staircase and the decoration of the double height hall were built.

On the ceiling of my splendid hall on the main floor it represents The glory of justice and peace as a metaphor for the glory of the family and most likely it was the work of Scajaro, a pupil of Tiepolo (Pavanello).

Carlo Maria is also probably responsible for the murals recently discovered in one of my rooms on the noble floor. These paintings depict a rural landscape and the ports of Toulon and Marseille, perhaps to remember that Carlo Maria was one of the first Friulian nobles to invest in Loyd Triestino.
